  • The Alaska Network on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault has many opportunities for individuals and organizations to participate in ending domestic violence and sexual assault.

    Individuals Can Become A “Friend of the Alaska Network” Member

    “Friend of the Alaska Network” (F.A.N.) membership is for individuals or persons who have vested interest in the activities of ANDVSA, are supportive of the philosophy statement, and are supportive of agency goals and objectives.

    Privileges of “F.A.N.” Members:

    1. Are eligible to participate in any ANDVSA sponsored event or activity at a discounted rate.
    2. Will receive newsletter(s) and other regular ANDVSA informational mailings or publications.
    3. Will receive notice of invitations to activities or events sponsored by ANDVSA.

    Membership dues are $80 per year.

    Organizations can become Affiliate Members

    Organizations that have vested interest in the activities of ANDVSA, are supportive of the philosophy statement, and are supportive of agency goals and objectives can become Affiliate Members.

    Privileges of Affiliate Members

    1. Are eligible to serve as ex officio members of standing ad hoc committees of ANDVSA
    2. Will receive notice of and invitation to activities or events sponsored by ANDVSA
    3. Are eligible to participate in any ANDVSA sponsored event or activity at a discounted or special rate
    4. Will receive the newsletter(s) and other regular ANDVSA informational mailings or publications
    5. Can request technical assistance, trainers and speakers at a discount

    Cost of membership:  Based on annual budget

    Full Organizational Membership

    Programs that primarily serve victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault may be eligible to become full members.

    Organizational Members:    

    • Have full voting privileges;
    • Are eligible to serve as officers;
    • Are eligible to serve on the Steering Committee;
    • Are eligible to serve on standing committees;
    • Have specific duties, responsibilities and obligations for active participation in ANDVSA operations as outlined in the membership agreement;
    • Exercise fiduciary responsibilities for ANDVSA;
    • Receive all ANDVSA correspondence;
    • Eligible for full participation in all ANDVSA programs and services.

     Eligibility.

    An eligible organizational member shall be committed to the philosophy and mission of ANDVSA and shall be defined as:

    1)    Incorporated in the State of Alaska as a non-profit corporation; or an agency operating under the auspices of a local government unit; or a program operating under the auspices of a non-profit corporation; or a tribe or tribal entity;

    2)    Being governed by participatory decision-making that provides a mechanism for membership and/or persons being served to influence and direct decisions regarding program services;

    3)    Having as a primary focus the elimination of domestic violence, sexual assault and/or related abuse as indicated by bylaws, organizational, charter or governing documents, or mission statement or, if part of a larger body or umbrella group, a separate, discrete, identifiable program whose primary purpose is the elimination of domestic violence, sexual assault and related abuse;

    4)    Being oriented toward and governed by principles of protecting and enhancing the lives of victims and survivors;

    5)    Being governed by principles of equality;

    6)    Being committed to:

    a)     Providing an effective response to victim/survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and/or related abuse; and

    b)    Exposing the roots of violence in the institutionalized discrimination against women, children and those who are viewed as having less power; and

    c)     Assuring that the person(s) being served has the ultimate determination as to whether, when, what, and how they access services and/or resources provided by the agency or entity; and

    d)    Providing quality service through cooperative means; and

    e)     Providing service regardless of the income of the person(s) being served; and

    f)      Establishing and sustaining training and education for persons responding to and/or providing services to victims/survivors of violence.

    Cost of membership:  1% of CDVSA funding or $1,000 minimum.  The fee for non-CDVSA funded programs is 1% of the largest funding source for victim services. Dues are paid quarterly or each fall.
